Under Reconstruction
Purchased at the '04 SCS at Maple Grove, PA. Matching number X-77 Z-28. Original Virginia car, "A" titled in PA in '96. 2nd title and bill of sale. Original Cortez Silver with black standard interior. Power steering, floor console, in dash tach and console gauges. Although a complete running car, showing only 95K documented miles (back to the late 70's) on the odometer, our Z has seen years of hard use. Looks great at 20 yards, but in need of a good deal of bodywork to return to its glory days. The totally original interior is surprisingly nice, although the metal dash has been butchered to mount a CD player. A carpet set, dash pad and front seat upholstery are about all we'll need to have the killer driver we intend to complete.
With the engine and 4 speed trans removed in our lift area, the body goes to Stan's Restorations in Lexington, NC. The radiator support, right full rocker, center trunk floor, driver floor pan, both rear outer wheel wells and trunk side filler panels will be replaced. Both rear quarters had been replaced (and rather poorly done) with full GM quarters sometime previously, and we hope to remove and then re-install them correctly. Stan's shop, nationally known for its technical expertise and quality of Camaro restorations, will professionally accomplish all our metal repair, straighten the body, and apply a new Cortez Silver paint with the black Z-28 striping.
